For a long time there was a general perception that molecules capable of
architecture has attracted significant attention. Several examples demonstrate this, as many salicylideneanilines exhibiting mesophases are listed, see e.g., [12][13]. These salicylideneanilines, but also salicylideneimines, can form metallomesogens by complexation with d- and f-block elements, [14][15][16][17
]. Tris(salicylideneanilines) having a discotic shape exhibit a room-temperature columnar mesophase [18][19]. Dendromesogens containing up to 64 peripheral mesogenic salicylideneimine fragments have also been reported [20]. Antiferroelectric behaviour has been claimed by Yablonski et al. to be exhibited
