Research areas

Professor Johnston’s research is focused on the development of new reactions and reagents (e.g. chiral proton catalysts) for natural product total synthesis and their application to the targets that inspired them, particularly structurally complex alkaloids, and stereochemically complex and functionally congested natural products.
Research topics: organic synthesis, asymmetric synthesis, catalysis, organometallic and coordination chemistry
