Organic electrosynthesis is experiencing a renaissance in both academia and industry. This resurgence is driven by advances in electrochemical methodologies, sustainability imperatives and interdisciplinary collaborations in academia. At the same time, industry is recognising the efficiency and environmental friendliness of electrochemical processes.
Editing a thematic issue of the Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry at this time is crucial to capture this momentum, highlight challenges and showcase synergies between academia and industry. The thematic issue will serve as a nexus for the dissemination of breakthrough research and practical applications, accelerating the momentum of the organic electrosynthesis renaissance.
In this thematic issue, we will cover the novel concepts and the latest developments in electrosynthesis, including (but not limited to) synthetic electrocatalysis and mechanistic studies using analytic electrochemical methods.
