Polyaromatic carbon-based compounds, including porphyrins, fullerenes, nanotubes, graphenes, and others, are attractive materials for electronic devices, photosensitizer, self-assembled mate- rials, and related to other processes. In this thematic issue, we aim to provide recent updates on the chemistry of these carbon-based compounds/materials, spanning from organic reactions and synthesis of new derivatives to perspectives for the development of materials and devices.
