This thematic issue aims to highlight recent advances in nanobiotechnology, encompassing the design, development, and characterization of nanomaterials, their interactions with biological systems, and their applications across biomedical, biotechnological, and environmental fields.

Inspired by the scientific themes of the 4th National Symposium on Nanobiotechnology (IV SNNB 2026), this thematic issue welcomes high-quality original research contributions from the international scientific community, regardless of participation in the symposium. Review articles, letters, and perspectives may also be considered.

The scope encompasses experimental, theoretical, and computational research, including, but not limited to, the following topics:

        1. Nanomaterial design, synthesis, and functionalization: rational design, synthesis, surface functionalization, and physicochemical characterization of nanomaterials, including computational modeling, molecular simulations, and artificial-intelligence-assisted approaches.
        2. Biointerfaces and nanotoxicology: nano–bio interactions, biomolecular interfaces, biocompatibility, molecular and cellular responses, nanotoxicity, and safety assessment.
        3. Nanomedicine and theranostics: nanotechnology-based approaches to drug delivery, molecular imaging, targeted therapies, and integrated diagnostic and therapeutic applications in human and veterinary medicine.
        4. Nanovaccines and immunotechnology: nanotechnology-enabled vaccine platforms, antigen delivery systems, and immunomodulatory strategies.
        5. Biosensors and nanodiagnostics: nanomaterial-based sensing and analytical platforms for biomarker detection, molecular diagnostics, and biological and environmental monitoring.
        6. Nanobioengineering: nanotechnology-enabled approaches to tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, bioinspired materials, microfluidics, and organ-on-a-chip systems.
        7. Environmental applications and sustainability: applications of nanomaterials in environmental monitoring, remediation, pollution control, and sustainable technologies.
