Recruitment of guest editors for thematic issues

Interested in becoming a guest editor for the Beilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry? Apply here to edit a thematic issue and showcase your area of research.

If you are interested in gaining editorial experience and handling original high-quality manuscripts in the most important fields of organic chemistry, then this is the opportunity for you! As a guest editor, you will be responsible for the peer-review process, including the selection of potential authors and reviewers. Our in-house editorial team will support you along the way. Following our editorial policies, manuscripts submitted to a thematic issue are pre-screened for quality and importance and examined for plagiarism and originality, leaving the editorial decisions to you.

Your benefits

As a guest editor you will

  • gain or expand your editorial experience;
  • extensively broaden your network by inviting authors at different institutions across the globe;
  • be up-to-date on articles at the forefront of your research field;
  • gain hands-on experience with (and be responsible for) the peer-review process; and
  • be involved in the exciting world of open access journals!

Desired applicant profile

We are particularly interested in supporting candidates in the early stages of their independent research career (for example, assistant professor level or an equivalent position). They should have a keen interest in broadening and utilizing their and our existing diverse networks across different institutions and countries. Importantly, candidates should have a publication history in reputable journals in fields related to the proposed thematic issue. Previous editorial experience is an advantage.
